Marriage. Married life. Long vacation from work. Trips to Tirthalli, Chennai and Udupi. Lots and lots of relatives. Zipping around Bangalore in the wagonR - Much happiness.
Cold. Logistical nightmares. Lagging behind at work. A zillion things to do, 6 days left to fly. The heart wants to stay back, what to do ?
Life has been good, many thanks to Venky.

Bangalore airport
Amma and Anna came with me to pick up the bro, and we all enjoyed the whole experience. The road is fantastic from Hebbal, comparable to US freeways imo, except for a few quirks here and there. Parking especially is beautifully done, and so is the Volov bus facility.
The approx 37 km drive to Bangalore airport was done in under 45 minutes, albeit at 12 in the night. If I recall right, getting to the old airport from home was taking comparable time. But oh, the drive is fantastic. If anything, I felt the wagonR needed more power/speed, I didn't go beyond 90 kmph for fearing of hurting the brother's car engine.
The bus conductors were standing in the corridor and trying to lure passengers to try the bus. There were empty parking slots, and many. The arrival and departure areas are wide and spacious, with plenty of standing place for people who are waiting for their folks to come out.
Well done, BIAL

Just a post.
- Bangalore is fantastic. I don't want to come back now.
- Our RTO gives car driver's license without tests if you have a valid foreign license, did you know ? Although they made me run around, I got a car DL for myself.
- Driving in Bangalore has become crazy nowadays. I initially started off with the bike, and have finally got around to driving tha car. The left-right confusion only came up in the latter. I look back over my right shoulder, and the right hand goes for the gear every now and then. But otherwise, its quite comfortable.
- Lunches and dinners with relatives and friends, piggybacking with the brother/sil's invitation. Great food. Good company.
- The Bangalore office is fun. Where else can you eat chat on the terrace, while watching Tendulkar play against Pakistan ? ;)

Accidents 101.
Driving 40 miles a day on 101 in California is like taking "Accidents 101". Just when you get used to normality, you get to witness another accident...
Today on the way up north, I saw two different accidents that slowed traffic almost all the way to a crawl. [with all this crawling, my friendly neighborhood search company should offer me a job on their crawlers]
The first one was the most gruesome, with the left two lanes blocked by emergency personnel. Several cop cars, several ambulances, lots of rubbernecking. The second one was milder, involving two cars and a single cop!
If there is anything to take away from all these incidents, don't ever drive involuntarily. And don't drive close to the car in front of you. Don't. Don't. Don't.
