Traffic woes, construction, and last few days in India

It has been a while since I wrote anything. Things have been quite hectic recently, in a good sort of way. I haven't been this busy in a while..

I have gotten used to riding the bike in peak hour Bangalore traffic, although I feel like swearing and cursing when autos cut in front of me, as if deliberately. The big difference from the US is, the space in front of you on the road is not yours by default, it belongs to whoever reaches first. Even if it means you have to brake hard to avoid contact. In the larger scheme of things, every driver gets more tired, and no one really saves much time.

Wish there was a clean way to fix Bangalore's traffic issues. All I can think of now is to have a few really wide freeways spanning Bangalore from North to South, and East to West, with entry/exit ramps. That way, long distance travellers (like meself) don't have to wait at all the traffic lights, traffic flows smoothly, and delays will be felt only in the smaller streets. Wonder why it has not yet happened. Is it because we can't find the space to build such wide roads without traffic lights? Why not build a few feet above the ground, on top of small buildings ?
If you were Bangalore's traffic commissioner, what would you do ?

In other things, should start looking for a few good gifts from India. Should see the construction come to an end, and go around fitting the place up with sofas, bathroom fittings, stylish lights etc. Carpentry and grilling is midway, and seems the tiling will get underway shortly as well. Apparently, I will miss out on the best parts though.

Got 5 days left in India. Should make the most of it!
