Badminton, X-Rays and the Left Hand

It has been an awesome and enjoyable experience so far, the badminton games in the club. I feel quite fit now, at least fit enough to get into the water and start swimming again. It's amazing how much water and salt is lost after a stint of 3 hours.. I can feel the salt grains on my forehead. Literally. (okay, I will stop the graphics) Last thursday though was a bit of a let down. My old shoulder problem cropped up, again. It was a nicely fought game and everyone was playing competitively. So, this shuttle was rallied back high, and I stretched my hand up and behind my head to try and smash it back.

And it felt like it snapped. My right arm gave a slight pop and got dislocated, and I had to use my left hand to pull it back in place. Its a horrible and scary feeling when that happens.

Its happened about 10-12 times so far, and in varied situations. It started when I was playing cricket in the street. Reoccured during basketball, volleyball and swimming. And now, badminton as well. Well.

So the doctor took a look at the three X-rays and pronounced me ok. He asked me not to strain the hand for a few days. Also, to try Advil if it pained a lot. Was it worth the 2 hour wait in the urgent care center ? I wonder.

In anycase, today's session has been good. My left hand play has steadily improved. The few shots I try with the right hand makes me feel so much in control, its beautiful!

You fix the dislocation just like that ! Man, that's scary. I was thinking more in terms of un-easiness. This is pretty serious.

But, I was infact wondering as how you were able to play with both the hands, with such a good control. Bravo !

I agree, today's session was just great, more to get back to the sport after exactly 10 years! Brought back great memories, along the way...

:) Yes, it was quite serious.
I have been feeling way way better anyhow, so I came and played.

You should come regularly then, if you liked it so much..
