Fiesta fawn, Vista vpn woes and other stories

It took all of yesterday evening to download the installable image, fix my cdrom on vista, find a blank cd, burn the image on it and install it.

"It" is Fiesta Fawn, the new ubuntu operating system. I already liked the old one Rajiv had on his desktop(which I had borrowed a while ago). This version is even better. Seems very clean, quick no nonsense installation, very simple UI. Good job, fiesta fawn!

Towards the end, I was anticipating having to configure this grub loader thingie(
with fear of losing both OS's, if I may add). But the smart fellow that it was, it cleanly figured out my two vista partitions (one for booting vista and the other for recovery) automatically. So, I didn't have to jump through the hoops mentioned here. And with that, my new laptop is now a dual boot with ubuntu's fiesta fawn and Microsoft's Vista operating systems.Thankfully, 'tseems we support vpn clients for linuxes and macs. With luck, I can get one such to run now.

And to the microsoft engineer who often reads my blog:
You can't blame me, I realy tried to make it work on the vista, but it just didn't work. As I would put it in Kannada: " Vishta dalli kashta !"
