Samudra Manthana

Bangkok's Suvarna Bhumi airport is fantastic, I am quite impressed ! Having seen it being built over the last two trips, its nice to see it up, running and lively. While there is a lot of real estate in the airport, I was especially interested to see several Hindu sculptures like this one -

Samudra Manthana, where the Suras and Asuras churn the ocean for Amruta. Funny contrast, seeing this in front of a Gucci store.

And then, out of nowhere, you see a fantastic Mantapa !

Quirky little things, making a modern, western looking airport suddenly localized ! I was especially pleased to see a prayer room in the middle of the airport ! To top it all off, I saw a muslim guy praying out by the check in counters anyway. He he, the attitude reminds me of India a little...

Madhoppers at work

L to R standing: Sri, Rajiv, Robin, Yimin, Kathy, Charles and Jennifer
Sitting: Harish and Gajanan

Robin throws himeslf at any and every ball, and loves to fall.
Yimin used to play in school, wears a wushu t shirt and has fantastic kicks when the ball is just out of reach for the hand.
Charles, is a volleyball coach. 'Nuf said!
Jennifer works in the gym, although I am not too sure about that.
G and I are supposed to be wily customers looking for empty spots in the opposite team's court.

Come watch us play! Tuesday evenings in the Oracle gym.

Join me for a walk after lunch ?

My daily after lunch walk around Oracle campus.

Every now and then, a bagpiper plays his ware by the seats in the picture. Y can hear the pleasing sound a long way away. He usually turns up in full gear, with the bagpipes glinting in the sun. Just to the left is another trail, where walkers, joggers, dog walkers, bikers (and occasionally rollerbladers like I) enjoy the outdoors. If you are lucky, you can catch a fight between long necked ducks fighting for territory along the way.

If there is anything wrong with this, it is urge to not get back to work. It is truly heavenly.

foggy mornings

The last few days have been good. I have hit that sweet spot where work is so exciting, I get up early and can't wait to get started. As a result, I have been reaching office well before 9 AM.

While the traffic is a little denser early in the morning, the weather is just fantastic! Today morning, I clicked this just off 101, while driving up to work. It felt like I was in Ooty or madikeri...

What would you do ?

I first set sight on her in Koramangala, a few kilometers from my workplace. I spent spent my very first salary on her. From that moment on, I saw a large part of my life through her.....

She has soothed me in the desert heat of Arizona. She has shielded me on the bike. The whole world appears cooler when she is around. A while back, we fell together, and we both got hurt together. She became a cripple, but I was not willing to give up. I fixed her up good, and we were back to our old selves soon.

But, as fate would have it, her leg got seperated again, and got involved in an accident of it's own. I don't want to write an obituary just yet. The sentiment is too strong. What would you do ?
