Samudra Manthana

Bangkok's Suvarna Bhumi airport is fantastic, I am quite impressed ! Having seen it being built over the last two trips, its nice to see it up, running and lively. While there is a lot of real estate in the airport, I was especially interested to see several Hindu sculptures like this one -

Samudra Manthana, where the Suras and Asuras churn the ocean for Amruta. Funny contrast, seeing this in front of a Gucci store.

And then, out of nowhere, you see a fantastic Mantapa !

Quirky little things, making a modern, western looking airport suddenly localized ! I was especially pleased to see a prayer room in the middle of the airport ! To top it all off, I saw a muslim guy praying out by the check in counters anyway. He he, the attitude reminds me of India a little...

very nice! And very amusing to see the culture rich sculpture right outside a Gucci shop... what a blend!
